Theme Ideas

Ideas for the exhibition theme

Subjects that were taught during the Multimedia course:
3D/2D animation
3D modelling
Sound
Video production
Photography
Product design
Coding
Web design

Having all taught subject in mind I started brainstorming about possible themes for the exhibition. Some of the ideas are related to the course and some of them are just my thought without any relation to the course.

Suburb neighborhood
Exhibition would be as a fictional one road neighborhood in which 2-3 students have house displaying their work.
The floor could be used as a road which is forked towards separate houses. Rooms/windows of a house could be used as individual student space displaying their individual work

Skyscrapers/buildings

Similar to suburbs concept. 2-5 skyscrapers could be build in the middle of the mezzanine as 3dimensional buildings. Each side of the building would display students works. Show space could be divided to building's floors and sides.

World Countries/7 Continents of the World

Sections portraying common features of different countries or continents.

Identity

Labyrinth

Simple labyrinth could be built up from connecting boards/walls. There would be one entrance and one exit.
Student work could be displayed on the walls. It would be great to have as many turns as there are students. Therefore, work could be displayed on the corners, so when visitors goes trough the labyrinth work is always in front of him.
Inside the labyrinth should be total darkness except the lights illuminating the work and turns. Student created soundscapes from advanced sound techniques module could be played throughout the labyrinth to enhance experience.

Roads/Traffic lights
Roads on the floors could direct to the student work on traffic lights and signs.

Boxes
Every students have a box with their work in it. Visitor has to open the box to see the work or boxes are already left open. Boxes could be piled together as in a warehouse.

Industrial/Dirt/Mechanisms
Dark, grey and dirty atmosphere

Shop/mall/shelves
Student work could be displayed as products on the shelves.

Future careers

Classic painting gallery

White walls with framed student work and description cards next to them.

Desktop/computer screen/Folders
Use of computer graphics such as folders, icons, start menu.

Media hardware

Color

Camera/film negative

A scaled version of film strip hanging horizontally placed around the mezzanine. Works displayed on "negatives".

Graphic elements(circles and triangles)
Use of big basic graphic elements cut outs/boards to display the work.
Could be made of few simple shapes like circles and squares. Line of circles and squares would point/flow towards the corresponding shape board with students works.

Studio/production house/office
Construct a closed space with rooms in it. Each room could reflect different stages of creating multimedia artefacts.
Room suggestions:
pre-production writer's, brainstorming room with tables, chairs, papers, pens. Creative inspiring atmosphere filled with scripts, papers, designs, mood boards, storyboards etc.
production room filled with work in progress images, codes, studio lights, camera, etc. Built interactive green screen where visitor can stand and see themselves in a screen with different backgrounds.
post-production room filled with film strips, editing tools, Fx etc. This is where screening of student videos could be held.

Cinema/Screening
Create couple screening section with projectors. Student work would be projected on the walls, ceilings and floors. No printing required.
